GREGOR BOŽIČ

Film director, cinematographer and researcher of Mediterranean pomology.

He studied film & cinematography at the AGRFT film and TV school Ljubljana and DFFB film academy Berlin, as well as contemporary visual arts at the Le Fresnoy national studio in Lille.

His work has been presented in numerous important film festivals, such as the Toronto IFF, Locarno IFF, FID Marseille, Camerimage IFF, Goa IFF, The museum of moving image NY, Jerusalem IFF, Istanbul IFF, Mostra Sao Paolo, IFF Rotterdam, Shanghai IFF, Tallinn black nights IFF, Ghent IFF, Sarajevo IFF, etc.

Since 2008 he is conducting an ongoing research on old and endemic Mediterranean fruit varieties in which he collaborated with fruit farmers from the Italo - Slovene borderland. In 2010 he planted a gene-bank orchard and wrote a book that describes all the found varieties and the stories connected with them. His first directed feature film »Stories from the chestnut woods« premiered at the Toronto international film festival in 2019 and has screened at more than 50 international film festivals ever since.
